Sameem, the founder and former Director of Harrow International College Colombo, stands as a distinguished figure whose lifelong commitment has shaped the futures of countless students.
A Legacy of Leadership
Before establishing Harrow International College, Mr. Sameem served as the Director of Education in Sri Lanka, where he played a pivotal role in uplifting educational standards nationwide. His efforts to promote a culture of learning, academic excellence, and equity earned him recognition as a true pioneer in the country’s education sector.
A Journey Abroad
Driven by a passion to broaden his educational impact, Mr. Sameem moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he served as a teacher and coordinator at the prestigious Manarat Al-Riyadh School. His experiences abroad further enhanced his global perspective and solidified his expertise in international education.
Principalship and Return to Sri Lanka
Upon returning to Sri Lanka, Mr. Sameem assumed the esteemed role of Principal at Colombo Zahira College, once again demonstrating his leadership and ability to thrive in diverse academic environments.
In 1992, Mr. Sameem and his wife, Mrs. Sithy Fathima Sameem, brought their vision to life by founding Harrow International College in Colombo. Their goal was more than just establishing a school — they aimed to create an institution of excellence, built on values, innovation, and holistic education. That same year, they expanded their dream by opening a branch in Beruwela, further cementing their commitment to accessible quality education.
Together, Mr. and Mrs. Sameem devoted their lives to nurturing an institution that would stand as a beacon of academic integrity, character development, and innovation. Their tireless dedication laid a solid foundation that continues to inspire generations of educators and students alike.
Today, the school is led by their daughter, Ms. Sithy Rizana Sameem, who carries forward the legacy with passion, integrity, and a renewed commitment to excellence. Guided by the values instilled by her parents, she ensures that Harrow International College remains at the forefront of Sri Lanka’s international education landscape.
The journey of Mr. A. M. Sameem — from Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia and back — is a powerful testament to the enduring power of vision, service, and education.
